Drug - Induced Osteoporosis
نویسنده
چکیده
1. Apply an understanding of drug mechanisms to explain drug-induced osteoporosis and its consequences. 2. Use the diagnostic process to develop treatment and monitoring plans for drug-induced osteoporosis. 3. Assess for potential risk factors associated with druginduced osteoporosis. 4. Evaluate the epidemiologic literature to assess the absolute increase in risk of drug-induced osteoporosis associated with a specific class of agents.

Recent Advances in the Management of Steroid Induced Osteoporosis
Correspondence to: Lai-Wa Kwok Abstract: Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis is the most common cause of drug-induced osteoporosis, leading to fragility fractures, decrease in mobility and quality of life. Patients who receive equivalent dose of prednisolone 5 mg for more than six months are at risk of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, but there is no conclusive evidence for a safe cutoff fo...
متن کاملRole of alendronate and risedronate in preventing and treating osteoporosis.
Alendronate and risedronate, the two oral bisphosphonates approved in the United States for preventing and treating osteoporosis, have never been compared in direct head-to-head trials, but they appear to have similar pharmacokinetics, drug interactions, adverse effect profiles, and efficacy. Alendronate, however, can be given as a once-weekly dose, whereas risedronate is not yet available in t...

Osteoporosis is a disease of high prevalence with increased bone loss. It has potential public health threat and that the health authorities had taken several measures for its control. In recent years, considerable attention has been given to physiopathology of osteoporosis. Oxidative stress has been proved to be involved in bone resorption. Oxidative stress occurs when balance between o...
متن کاملComparative studies on effect of risedronate and alfacalcidol against glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritic patients.
Osteoporosis is a common adverse reaction induced by glucocorticoid treatment. Bisphosphonate, vitamin D(3) (VD(3)) or vitamin K(2) (VK(2)) is recommended as first or second choice of drug for treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. In the present study, the treatment effect of risedronate against glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritic patients was compared with t...
متن کاملExpression of HCA2 Receptors in Femoral Epiphysis and Metaphysis of Rats with Dexamethasone-Induced Osteoporosis
The present study describes the changes in expression of hydroxy- carboxylic acid receptor 2 (HCA2 receptor) in femoral epiphysis and metaphysis of rats with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIO). 16 growing male Sprauge dawley rats were randomly divided into two equal groups consisting of normal control and rats that were rendered osteoporotic by receiving 0.1 mg/kg/day dexamethasone throu...
